About Plan B Brandon Lee Spight Non Profit Foundation

About The Foundation

At the time of his death, in lieu of flowers, his parents asked supporters to donate money to his school.

Thanks to the generosity of donors—who contributed more than $14,000—the University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy established the Brandon Spight Scholarship. Since the fall of 2007, this scholarship has supported students in pursuing their education at U of D, carrying forward Brandon’s spirit of excellence.

The impact of this initiative inspired Brandon’s parents to expand the vision beyond a single scholarship. From that inspiration, the Brandon Lee Spight Memorial Foundation (BLSMF) was created. The foundation operates as a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the Internal Revenue Code, ensuring that Brandon’s legacy continues to make a lasting difference for students.

The Vision Of The Brandon Lee Spight Memorial Foundation (BLSMF)

The foundation provides meaningful educational opportunities to students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, opening doors that might otherwise remain closed. Each recipient embodies Brandon Lee Spight’s legacy by demonstrating character, integrity, promise, and a strong commitment to excellence—not only in academics and athletics, but also in their personal growth, leadership, and service to others. Through these students, Brandon’s spirit continues to inspire and create a lasting impact for generations to come.
